Self-Portrait

Tip 1: A self-portrait should be a very personal expression, not simply a mirror of something you've seen elsewhere. Think about who you want to be and how you want to say that. Use props, scenery, pose and lighting conditions to convey your personality. And most of all, have fun!
Tip 2: In conjunction with the timer, you can usually set your camera to take multiple photos in succession. Even if all you need is one photo, it's not a bad idea to have your camera snap five or ten so you can vary your pose/expression. This will give you much more variety when it comes time to choose the image. Just make sure you have your settings perfect before turning burst on, otherwise you'll have a card full of unusable shots.

Environmental

The reason I picked this photo is because of the surrounding blossoms and how they add to feeling of his surroundings and photoshoot.
This picture is just a quiet setting and pleases me.

Casual

I picked this picture because he looks completely relaxed, which is what I think casual photos should be all about. Relaxation.
I picked this one because he doesn't seem to be trying to hard to get this shot.

Formal

Who ever heard of a formal baby, but seriously, my baby sister has some formal pictures and they are just so cute.

Albert Einstein is one of idols so, finding this formal picture of the smartest goofball I've ever heard of is something I can't pass up.

Quite Write: App

My app would be to, at the push of a button, fire off a random nuclear warhead into a random planet. This app will be useful in preventing thermonuclear war and progressing peace, so, enjoy the free app.

My Mural Photos

I couldn't leave out just one. That would be rude.

Quick Write: Super Hero

Honestly, he's pretty neutral. The only reason he's considered a hero is because he keeps the balance and usually, that means he needs to help instead of hurt. (Although it has happened before, so anti-hero?)
Anyways, his name is Dark Prynce (his real name is to remain a secret until needed). He is a Nephalem (demon/angel hybrid) of extreme power and deemed a genius at a young age. He usually wears a black cloak with an insignia on the back. He has medium length gray hair, bottomless gray eyes, and wears a suit underneath his cloak with one armored arm.

As far as powers go, he has an extensive list of abilities that allow him to conquer just about any opponent. However, the ones he uses most are Nether Manipulation, Darkness Manipulation, Weapon Manipulation, Flight, Teleportation, Absolute Intellect, Omni-Magic, Science Manipulation, and Psionic Manipulation.

For a more extensive list and history of Dark Prynce, visit http://transcending-zenith-role-play.wikia.com/wiki/MediaWiki:Wiki-navigation?s=dgdiff&diff=4246&oldid=prev
and type Dark Prynce into the search bar.

Quick Write: Bravery

One time I was brave, was....... I don't really know. I mean, I guess asking out my current girlfriend was brave, but the only time I can think I was really brave, was when I was 4 and it flooded and I had to be evacuated to my Aunt's house. Otherwise, that's it.

Great Black and White Photographers Part 3

  1. What first caught my eye with these photographers is that they were all (mostly) nature shots, and of places that I've never been as of yet.
  2. Senses
  • I see... 1) The grand canyon with its large crevices cut from years of water eroding it away. The mostly cloudy sky and the birds flying by overhead. 2) A lazy river with a bridge in the middle of a forest. The clear blue sky, the top of the land formation in the distance, and the clear reflection in the river.
  • I smell... 1)The clean dusty air of Arizona. The rocks and all the years of erosion. The past rivers and lakes, and the vast expanse of the canyon 2)A fishy smell, mixed with pine and maple. The ground and the morning dew, the sky and the clean air. The moss the has probably formed under the bridge.
  • I hear... 1)The screeching of vultures overhead. The wind blowing the clouds by as dust comes flying towards me. 2)The chirping of birds and animals running through the forest. The river sloshing by lazily and the rustling of the leaves.
  • I taste... 1)My raspy spit. The dust in the air. 2)The river water mist as it get's into my mouth. The taste of maple from some of the trees.
  • I feel... 1)The rocky terrain and smooth edges as well as jagged ones of the cliffs and ground. 2)The river mist on my face, the cool depths of the water, the trees bark and the soft ground of the bank.
  1.  I would create a blog made specifically for Ansel Adams and share it on the interweb, to share with everybody.

Quick Write: Costume

The best costume that I saw, was Amanda's Mad Hatter costume because it was cool and original. (Also, it was made, not bought.)

20 Squares

Quick Write

The way I cope with stress is by listening to music, playing video games (violent ones at that), hanging out with friends, or sleeping. Then again, I don't have much stress so I just put my daily routine, kind of.

Purpose to Photography

My reaction to the PowerPoint was that the pictures look amazing, and I wonder how they took these pictures.
This is my favorite picture because it shows that animals also care about family and can think like humans in that manner.

The elements of photography that I can see here are simplicity and contrast/emphasis. The subject is clear and the background doesn't distract from the main focus either.

Nick Brandt

1.) He photographs on medium format black and white film without zoom.
2.) His purpose was to create a trilogy to memorialize the vanishing natural grandeur of Africa.
3.) He hope to show their spirit and liveliness by getting close to the animals.

5 Favorite Smells

My five favorite smells would be, strawberries, mango, cherry blossom, pork chop (grilled with cream of onion soup, and river mist. I'm not sure if any of these would make successful candles, but I would enjoy them.

Free Write

So, the government wasn't stupid and decided to end their disbandment, meaning that it's too late to take it over now, sadly. Well, we can still plan for the future and see if we can make this country a better place. Let's start with my Omega Baconwich, nevermind, that would just fatten us up. So, plan for reformation and a better future as soon as my friend becomes president (if they still plans it), and the future will be a brighter place.

Academics Shoot

Lines

I'm not sure how well I followed this rule, but the lines are supposed to lead to the main air duct, on top of the canvas. It might not be clear to others what the subject is, and see it as another line. i might have been able to find a different subject to make it more obvious and make the picture better.

Simplicity

I believe that I did a good job in this picture because Eddie (the subject) is easily seen against a background that doesn't distract from him.

Rule of Thirds

I think I did a good job at this picture with the subject being Tyra and Ashley (bottom left corner) and i think i could have made the subject more clear, but it's one of two choices so I guess I did good.

Balance

What I was going for, was symmetric picture with few impurities, but I got a triangle of basketball players added, making it so much better. The subject is clear being that there is only one triangle there.

Framing

You can't really see the full frame, and is why the picture is off and not that great in my opinion but the subject (the students) are clear. I would prefer to see the full frame or none of it at all which I think would make the picture much better.

Avoiding Mergers

This one is great example of avoiding mergers, by the fact that nobody was cut out of the picture, and there are no extra body parts sticking out of anybody. Everybody in the photo is/are the subject(s) and are evident.

Ideal Vehicle

My dream vehicle/amazing partner, would be the TARDIS. TARDIS stands for Time And Relative Dimensions In Space, and it's a space ship, time machine, teleport device,  and the ultimate sports car in existence.

Academic Shoot Review

The Story

This picture shows a story by having the lighting and the feel that it's emotional for everyone there, or at least important. The story I get from this one is that everybody is surrounding for a great achievement and praying that it works out because they worked hard and deserve for it to go right.

Action and Emotion

I chose this one for Action and Emotion because it shows the relationship between teacher and student and how it can be a happy one.

Filling The Frame

This photo fills the frame with two engineers that are welding together some piece of metal and it's making a cool color with the smoke as they look through face mask.

Academics

  1. The reason I picked this picture was because of the implications of math and the simple background as well as Quantum Mechanics is one of my favorite fields to think about.
  2. The rules of photography present are, leading lines, Viewpoint, Background, and Framing.

Reflection

  1. I think I take pictures i looked at today in the gym, in the STEM building and the robotics room.
  2. I would like to visit Ms.Mayfield's class if she has Physics this period, and Mr.Gonzales' classroom because he leads the robotics team.
  3. As a photographer, to get amazing photos, I would try to get pictures of everybody acting normally so that I don't interrupt anybody and get the shots i need and want.

What I follow

Seeing as how I can't log onto Facebook from school wifi, I'll just go with what I follow from youtube.

My wish for the second six weeks, is to make a higher grade in all of my classes, if at all possible. Mainly English, because that's my worst class and should be worked upon.

National Geographic Warm-Up

This is my favorite photo from the site because it obviously has a deep meaning to the photographer. It's also a great nature shot that shows so much of the beauty only found in places untouched by mankind. Anyways, the reason that it has deep meaning to the photographer is because this is where they buried their dead dog, Spock. They gave him this as a tomb so that he would have the biggest gravestone of all the dogs out there.

If I could take a photo, it would be of the creek that my grandpa used to take me to when I was younger because it shows the beauty of simple nature.

Photo Manipulation and Ethics

In this article it is shown that people used photo manipulation and attempted to add it to the media. This is a terminal defense in most U.S. newspaper companies. This can also destroy your credibility and end alliances with other companies.

To me this kind of photo manipulation is unethical because it's manipulating the truth and shouldn't be done. The truth is the truth and people can't handle it, then that's their problem.

Saddam Hussein and George W Bush didn't really debate, but appeared in this photo cover.
I think this one was the most unethical because it scrambles the truth and makes the newspaper look less credible and they should be ashamed of what they did.

I think that this photo is the least unethical because all that they're really doing is changing the brightness of the photo and doesn't change the truth or anything.

Daily Write

The theme presented in this picture was contrast and probably repetition with the young girl standing up in a crowd of bowing people to talk a selfy.

Elements of Art and Principles of Design

Elements of Arts

 Line

An element of art defined by a point moving in space. Line may be two-or three-dimensional, descriptive, implied, or abstract.
The lines that come from his hands can lead you to either, up his hand through his arm, and to his body, or the fact that as the lines go on, there is more color following them.

Shape

An element of art that is two-dimensional, flat, or limited to height and width.

This picture is limited to the dimensions of height and width and appears that way as well.

Color

An element of art made up of three properties: hue, value, and intensity.
  • Hue: name of color
  • Value: hue’s lightness and darkness (a color’s value
changes when white or black is added)
  • Intensity: quality of brightness and purity (high
intensity= color is strong and bright; low intensity= color is faint and dull)
Most paintings use color, but I chose this one because of the vast variety of color that it contains, from reds to purples, all the way through the rainbow.

 Value (Tone)

The lightness or darkness of tones or colors. White is the lightest value; black is the darkest. The value halfway between these extremes is called middle gray.
This painting shows a contrast of brightness, or value, from one end of the picture to the other, starting with dark to the left moving to bright from the right.

Form

An element of art that is three-dimensional and encloses volume; includes height, width AND depth (as in a cube, a sphere, a pyramid, or a cylinder). Form may also be free flowing.
The reasons would be obvious as of the description, but I like the use of the 3D in the sphere and the reflection of the sphere making this more believable.

Texture

An element of art that refers to the way things feel, or look as if they might feel if touched.
I picked this picture based off of the perception that it gives of a boy being a giant in a waterfall when it's only like that from this perspective.

Space

An element of art by which positive and negative areas are defined or a sense of depth achieved in a work of art.
This painting gives a sense of depth by the way that it shows the different activities that the Greeks had done in their time and the positions that they're in adds to the overall effect.

Principles of Design

Balance

A way of combining elements to add a feeling of equilibrium or stability to a work of art. Major types are symmetrical and asymmetrical.
This painting is stable because of the way the colors blend with each other to produce a beautiful flower.

Contrast/Emphasis

A way of combining elements to stress the differences between those elements.
This picture shows the black background, with a girl in front of it, and a a shiny earring on her. Emphasizing the point.

 Movement

A principle of design used to create the look and feeling of action and to guide the viewer’s eye throughout the work of art.
This picture shows the movement of "news" and others reactions.

 Pattern

Pattern uses the art elements in planned or random repetitions to enhance surfaces of paintings or sculptures
Repeating soup cans shows the planning of Andy Warhol and somewhat the time dedicated to Campbell's Soup.

Rhythm

A principle of design that indicates movement, created by the careful placement of repeated elements in a work of art to cause a visual tempo or beat.
This picture represents the movement of the wave as it continues towards it's destination.

Unity

Unity is the relationship among the elements of a visual that helps all the elements function together.
This picture uses all the aspects of art to create a well thought out painting that shows how all they can make a picture this balanced and connected.
